Cindy Huddleston will be returning to Ardmore Middle School.

The Ardmore City Schools Board of Education hired her as the new AMS principal at a special meeting Thursday.

Huddleston previously worked as the school's assistant principal until 2011.

"She has kept current with educational issues and not missed a beat," said Assistant Principal Missy Storm.

Huddleston replaces Jill Day, whose retirement was approved at the May board meeting.

She is an Ardmore High School alum and earned a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and a master's degree from East Central University.

"She likes this age group, and she will be good with students and good with parents," said Superintendent Sonny Bates.

Other hires approved were elementary teacher Janet Davidson, Lincoln special education teacher Jayne Deringer, English Language Learners teacher Vanessa Jimenez, physical education teacher and head wrestling coach Craig Roark, computer teacher and tennis coach Nathan Roberts, AMS science teachers Adam Sherfield and Tammy Sherfield, and kindergarten teacher Megan Woodley.

"We're just about to fully staffed," Storm said.

Other positions the district still needs to fill include Will Rogers principal, high school assistant principal and parents and teachers literacy instructor.

Action on bids related to the bond projects was tabled until Tuesday.

The board will meet again in special session at 1 p.m. Monday at the Education Services Center to discuss the sale of bonds. The regular June meeting will be 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the high school.
