Two separate vehicle accidents in Ardmore claimed the lives of two people over the weekend.
Ardmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Ryan Hunnicutt announced Robert Clemmins, 58, of Ardmore, and a 15-year-old unidentified male died in the two accidents.
Officers responded to a 5 p.m. Saturday accident involving a motorcycle and a car at M.L. King and L Street NE. Clemmins, the driver of the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident. The driver of the car was not listed and received minor injuries.
The APD accident reconstruction team is investigating the cause of the accident as well as other factors.
The second accident took place at 2 a.m. Sunday in the 3400 block of Carter Street SE. A vehicle left the roadway, rolled once, ejecting the 15-year-old male passenger, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 17-year-old male, was medi-flighted to Oklahoma City, and a 16-year-old passenger was taken to Mercy Hospital Ardmore. The APD accident reconstruction team is also investigating the accident.
All three subjects live in the Golden Oaks addition on Carter Street, and it is believed they were heading home at the time of the accident. A witness said the vehicle may have been swerving to miss a dog or another animal in the roadway.
