Safety: Always an Adventure was the theme of the 2013 Oklahoma Safety and Health Conference sponsored by the Oklahoma Safety Council and the Oklahoma Department of Labor. The event took place at the Embassy Suites in Norman on June 26-28, 2013 and was host to over 70 vendors and 400 attendees.
Over a course of two days, more than 500 participants enjoyed the opportunity to hear speakers on a variety of 30 safety and health related topics, pursue ongoing educational accreditation, and participate in courses designed for OSHA compliance and network with peer professionals.
The Oklahoma Safety Council focuses on workers and employers to attend this event to help improve safety and health performance. “Strengthening the workplace safety culture contributes to reducing injuries and accidents and ultimately decreasing workers’ compensation costs” stated Commissioner Mark Costello, who was a speaker at the Awards Luncheon along with Lt. Governor Todd Lamb.
During the annual awards luncheon, employers and safety professionals that have demonstrated excellence in safety and health were honored with various safety awards. This year Drill Right Technology took home the Small Employer Award and Valir Health took home the Champion of Safety Award.
Dave Koeneke, OSC Executive Director said, “Our goal is to provide attendees with the knowledge they can take back to their workplace to enhance productivity and to honor those companies that work hard at keeping their employees safe in the workplace.”
Next year’s event will be held in Tulsa at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel & Convention Center June 4-6, 2014.
