Funeral services for Clarence W. "Toby" Silvers, 77, of Ardmore, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church, with Rev. David Gardner officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 Friday evening at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home, Ardmore.

Toby was born Feb. 8, 1936, in Burnsville, N.C., to the late Joe and Lois (Silvers) Silvers. He passed away in his home surrounded by his family on June 30, 2013.

Toby had lived in the Ardmore area since 1974, moving here from Roseburg, Ore. He had worked for GMAC for 22 years, and retired from the Kaiser-Francis Oil Company, where he served as a mechanic. He was a Godly man who loved the Lord and was a member of the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Lone Grove. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Roseburg, Ore., and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also loved to spend time with his gamecocks.

Toby married the former Barbara Gayle Taylor on Aug. 3, 2001, in Stobtown, Okla.

His parents, his first wife and mother of his children, JoAnn Jenkins, and two brothers, David and Ronnie Silvers, preceded Toby in death.

He is survived by wife, Barbara Silvers of the home; children Clarence "Toby" Silvers Jr. and wife Samantha, Linda Chaney and husband Rodney and Christie McCullers and husband Mike, all of Ardmore, Stephanie Balmer and husband Doug and Stephen Greene and wife Mira, all of Brigham City, Utah, and Timothy Steudeman and wife Jessica of Ada; grandchildren Josh Chaney of Healdton, Kyle Silvers of Wilson, Jake Chaney, Keith Silvers, Mia McCullers, Paris McCullers, Winnie McCullers, Keith Steudeman, Joshua Steudeman and Jordan Steudeman, all of Ardmore, and Jessica Zielinsky, Daltrey and Hunter Balmer, McKell and Tyson Greene, all of Brigham City, Utah; great-grandchildren Jennie, Jenna, Jace, Jasper, August and Garrett; brothers Clifford Silvers and wife Betty, Turner Silvers and wife Mary Lou, Stanley Silvers and wife Norma, Ralph Silvers and wife Kay, Larry Silvers and wife Debbie, all of Burnsville, N.C.; sister Joyce Johnson and husband Royce of Weaverville, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Linda Taylor of Ardmore; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Serving as casket bearers will be Toby's four grandsons, Josh Chaney, Jake Chaney, Keith Silvers and Kyle Silvers.
