  • There are signs of growth across Ardmore

  • The recent opening of Chicken Express appears to have taken Ardmore by storm. And there is more to come as a number of different businesses plan to open their doors in the coming months.
Construction at Rib Crib, which will be located at The Commons, is moving along. Code Enforcement Officer Jessica Scott said she expects the restaurant to open within 30 to 60 days. In the downtown area, Mr. J's Sandwich Shop is also moving closer to opening its doors. The shop is located in Paradise Alley, at the former location of Prime, The Burger Dive. Scott said the opening is expected in a month.
Lake Murray Drive will also see an influx of business with the opening of a convenience store and a Dollar General. There was a desire to have a grocery store in that area of Ardmore, but Dollar General will be able to provide some of the same services.
"People wanted a grocery store because there was nothing like that over there," Scott said. "The Dollar General will be very convenient for the residents in that area. We are excited to see development taking place on Lake Murray Drive."
Scott said the new Brad Fenton Nissan facility is nearly ready on Rockford Parkway. A new Farm Credit facility will also be placed on Rockford.
My Dentist recently opened at The Commons and a new dentist office, Aspen Dental, has begun dirt work for a building across from Lowe's Home Improvement. There is also a new daycare that will be coming in at Merrick Circle.
Big things have been planned at Mountain View Mall since an amendment to the Tax Rebate Agreement was approved in September 2012. To this point, there is more in the way of plans rather than actual improvements. One of the reasons is the necessity of gaining easements for necessary additions. Nick Diaz, development services director, said the mall is going through the process of gaining the easements for the water and sewer. That will be important as Staples will move to the former site of Maurice's and will expand the current space. TJ Maxx will move into the current Staples site.
There will also be other renovations made to the mall. Those renovations include improving the parking lot and landscaping.
