  • Aline DeHart, 95, of Ardmore, passed away July 4, 2013, at Mercy Hospital Ardmore.
Aline was born Sept. 5, 1917, south of Alex, Okla., in the Ireton community, to Lucy Belle and Walter Wesley Overby. She married J.W. DeHart on June 30, 1934, and celebrated 65 years of marriage before he passed away in November 1999. She was a longtime resident of Ardmore and a member of the First Baptist Church, the Care and Share Sunday School Class, and the Keenage Choir. She was also a member of the Golden Girls Carter County Home and Community Education group.
Aline was happiest when her family was together. She deeply cherished her children, grands, greats and great-great grandbabies. She loved to make them cookies, pies and the family favorite "chocolate rolls." She was a lover of music, playing the piano, the harmonica and singing and dancing to any snappy tune that wafted past her ear. She was an amateur bird watcher and a full time professional "feeder of birds." Her backyard was filled with bird feeders for birds of every size from hummingbirds to martins. Her favorite pastime was fishing. She would fish anytime, anywhere, with any pole, for any fish that would dare try and take her bait.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, and two sisters.
Aline is survived by her son, John DeHart and wife, Patsy, daughter, Barbara and husband, Charles Swindell all of Ardmore, and daughter, Judy and husband Bill Thomas of Denton, Texas; nine grandchildren, Theresa DeHart, Leasa Chandler and husband, Mike, Laura DeHart, Devee Jantz and husband, Phil, Jay Swindell, Judith Schofield and husband, Jeff, Susan Aitson, Elissa Thomas, and Cody Thomas; nine great-grandchildren, Ryan Chandler and wife, Britney, Aaron Chandler, Samuel Chandler, Amanda Jantz, Juliann Jantz, Savannah Petty and husband, Joe, Charity Volino and husband, Jordan, Nocona Swindell, and Kutter Swindell; and one great-great-grandson, Braylen Chandler.
Funeral services for Aline will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at First Baptist Church, with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Chandler, Phil Jantz, Jeff Schofield, Jay Swindell, Cody Thomas and Ryan Chandler.
Visitation of friends and family will be held 6-7 p.m. today at Craddock Funeral Home.
Our heartfelt thanks goes out to all of Aline's caregivers and especially to Phyllis Ryman and Theresa DeHart, for all of the care, love, and attention they provided over the past years.
