Every week, the Ardmoreite will feature area prep athletes headed into the start of the fall sports season.

Two mainstays on the Ardmore football team can be found in Devin Reynolds and Darius Lawson.

Both seniors, the two play pivitol roles in an aggressive, athletic Tiger defense and the execution of Ardmore's spread offense.

Wtih Reynolds at outside linebacker and wide receiver, and Lawson at defensive tackle and fullback, these two will have a major impact on the success of coach Doug Wendel's third season.

Darius, you seem like you lead this team on and off the field, both vocally and by example. What are some things you try to convey to the younger guys?
Lawson: "I'm going to graduate soon, so I'm just trying to show these guys the way and how to do things on a daily basis. Showing up to practice and working hard in the weight room can get you a long way, and that's what I'm trying to show them."

Devin, after playing mostly offense last year, what has it been like to switch over to mainly defense and play outside linebacker?
Reynolds: "I practiced there a lot last year, but I didn't really play a lot there, mostly offense. I'm loving it right now."

Darius, what is it inside of you that makes you a good nose guard and fullback?
Lawson: "You have to be mentally and physically tough. I'm always ready. Never know when your number will be called on offense, or when you'll need to make a play on defense."

Devin, what's your favorite thing about playing defense?
Reynolds: "It's just a lot of fun to let loose and be able to hit people."

Darius, what is your team's expectations for this season?
Lawson: "Same as always, make it to the playoffs. First, win our district, and get a couple of home games. Then, we always have a goal of getting to the state championship."

Devin, after making it to the first round of the playoffs last year, what will be the key in changing that this year?
Reynolds: "We've got to get everyone here and everyone on the same page. We've got to stick together, stay strong and stay with it."
