Funeral services for Karen M. Janca Garland will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Minden, La. Officiating will be Rev. Ronnie Garland. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Minden, under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Karen was born March 24, 1942, in Galesburg, Ill., to Lloyd Henry and Montez Tomlinson Bailey and entered into rest July 9, 2013, in Minden. She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church.
Karen married her first husband, Robert (Bob) Janca, in Alice, Texas, on April 26, 1958. They had three children, Roslyn, Donna and Chris. Bob and Karen lived in Ardmore from 1973-77, where Bob was the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce manager and Karen was the executive director for the United Way. They moved to Minden in 1977 and made their home there for several years.
Karen was a kind and caring person who loved her family with all her heart. She especially loved to help children and volunteered for the children's ward at the hospital for several years. She loved to read books to her grandchildren, and believed that having an imagination was a true gift.
Bob preceded her in death in 1990. She married Oliver Alvin Garland III on Dec. 30, 1995, in Minden.
She is survived by her husband, O.A. Garland of Minden; daughter, Roslyn Haile and husband, Randy and their children, Kimberly Cummings Moore and Robert Haile of Ardmore; daughter, Donna Storey of Minden; son, Chris Janca and wife, Debbie of Minden; stepsons, Brian Garland and wife, Wendy of Minden, Stephen Garland of Minden, and Chris Garland of Bossier City; stepdaughter, Jacki Garland of Minden; brothers, Rex Bailey and Marc Bailey of California; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Janca; and her parents.
