  • R J Teague, age 85, passed away early Friday morning, July 19, 2013, at Ardmore. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Maranatha Free Will Baptist Church in Ardmore with the Reverend Leroy Holman officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
    R J affectionately called "Jiggs, Poppy and Teague" was born on January 19, 1928, in Kingston, to the late Layburn and Susie Teague. R J was a welder and mechanic and retired from Joe Brown. He was in the Army and received the Army Occupation Medal (Japan), UN Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with One Bronze Campaign Star and Combat Infantry Badge. R J loved hunting, coon hunting, fishing, water sports and basketball. R J is a member of Maranatha Free Will Baptist Church in Ardmore. R J loved his family, church family, neighbors and all his friends with all his heart and spending time with them was very dear and special to him. R J was extremely proud of his son, Dennis, with his missionary work in France. R J developed very close relationships with everyone, he loved young people and children, many of which he took care of from a baby and watched them grow into fine adults.
    R J was preceded in death by his parents; late wife Iva Louise Teague; two brothers ED and Hoyte Teague; and one sister Lela Gilreath.
    R J is survived by his wife, Marie Teague of the home; son Dennis Teague and wife, Carol of France; stepson, Cris Malone and wife, Valerie of Ardmore; honorary adopted daughter Lois Baxter and husband, Johnnie of Ardmore; grandchildren Jered Teague and wife, Nolwenn, Joel Teague and wife, Lydie, Justin Teague and fiancée, Camille Douib, Alex Malone, Matthew Malone, Scottie Baxter and Jason Baxter; great-grandchildren Ava Teague and Alyssia Teague; sister Ina Mae Shrum and husband, Gene of Tishomingo; nieces Marcella Derryberry and husband, Jack of Tennessee, Lynann Withers of Tishomingo, Stacy Fletcher of Tennessee, Lynnea Jellison of Kentucky, Virginia Gilreath of Tulsa and Melba Jean Cannon and husband, Mike of Blanchard, Okla.; nephews Sonny Gilreath and wife, Sue of Edmond, Ricky Rogers and wife, Cheryl of Ardmore, Larry Rogers of Ardmore, James Rogers of Ardmore and Colin Fletcher of Tennessee; great-nieces Heather Varon and husband, Marc, Mandy Cryer and fiancé, Tony Peery, Jessica Rogers, Carlin Cannon, Clayton Cannon, and Cortlyn Emerick and husband, Matt; great-nephews Justin Rogers and Joshua Rogers and wife, Heather; great-great-nieces Rori Rogers, Emilee Rogers, Macee Rogers and Sawyer Emerick; and great-great-nephews Brody Rogers and Creed Rogers.
    Serving as pallbearers will be Gerald Bell, Darrell Weldon, Billy VanBuskirk, Dean Mays, Ricky Rogers and Larry Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Blain and Bobby Pope.
    The family would like to thank all the wonderful physicians and nurses at Mercy Hospital Ardmore who have cared for R J. "Thank you."
