Donald Howard Barnes, 78, of Kingston, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in Kingston. He was born on Sept. 11, 1934, in Seminole, to the late Howard Barnes and Verna Welch Barnes.

Donald was raised in Healdton and graduated Healdton High School in 1952 and later attended Oklahoma State University where he received a B.S. in engineering. On Feb. 9, 1957, Donald married Joyce Graham in Oklahoma City, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 1998. He worked for 20 years for Sun Oil as a drilling superintendent, and later owned and operated Proctor & Barnes Oil Field Construction Company in Woodward, Okla. In 1985, he moved to Caney Creek area on Lake Texoma before moving to Kingston in 1997. Donald has lived the last four years in Alberta Creek, and enjoyed his winters in Pharr, Texas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kingston, and enjoyed golfing and loved reading.

He is survived by his children, Suzanne Barnes, Durant, and Becky Barnes Brown and husband, Dewayne, Belton, Texas; grandchildren Landon Dixon, Chelsea Brown, Chandler Brown and Cayden Brown; brothers Dwight Barnes, San Carlos, Mexico, and David Barnes, Kingston; beloved companion and best friend Doris Jackson, Kingston; and extended family Bob and Tammy Jackson, Newcastle, Chris and Karen Jackson, Dallas, and Kimberly and Lee Harper, Little Rock, Ark., and their families.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his first love and wife, Joyce Barnes and survived by his last love, Doris Jackson.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Watts Funeral Home, Kingston. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at the Mount Olive Cemetery, Healdton. Bob Jackson and Landon Dixon will officiate the services.

Honorary casket bearers: Marvin Smith, Jerry McArver, Dick Copeland, Jim Cartwright, David Dick, Gene Gregory, Gene Thompson, Ernest "Cotton" Allen, Johnny Sweeney, Luke Allen, Dewayne Brown and Bob Payne.
