The Oklahoma Youth Orchestras announce the final opportunity to audition for the upcoming 2013-2014 season. Public, private and home school students grades 6 thru 12 are welcome to audition on Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the Wanda L. Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University.
Audition time registration is required and can be completed online at www.oyomusic.org.
More information about audition requirements for each instrument is available on the organization's website. These auditions will be videotaped for additional panelists. Students and families are asked to complete an online audition time request as walk-up auditions are not available.
Students interested in being a part of the Oklahoma Youth Orchestras, but looking for a non-audition opportunity, are welcome to register for the Festival Strings Program. The Oklahoma Youth Orchestras currently supports four of these ensembles in Norman, Edmond, Mid-Del and Oklahoma City. The program is designed for students in middle school who have had one or two years of instruction. Families can simply register for the program on the organization's website.
Five auditioned ensembles are supported by the Oklahoma Youth Orchestras and rehearse Monday evenings throughout the school year at OCU. "We strive to serve students ranging from developing string players to the most advanced high school seniors," said Executive Director Jason Grife. "We look forward to meeting new and returning string and wind players at our last audition opportunity for the upcoming season."
The Oklahoma Youth Orchestras serve students in central and western Oklahoma. Eligibility includes participation in the student's school music program where available.
