Without warning, early Wednesday morning, August 24, 2013, death plucked another flower from the Anderson family's garden and called La Wanda Joyce, age 56, from earth to Heaven's reward.

La Wanda was born in Ardmore October 12, 1956. She was the youngest child born to Elizabeth and Maceo Anderson. Growing up in Ardmore, she graduated from Ardmore High School with the class of 1974. She furthered her education at Southeastern State University in Durant. In Ardmore, La Wanda was employed at Barklee Collection, Carol Sutton, and Cato.

When 10 years old, she accepted Jesus as Lord, united with the First Baptist Church and was baptized by Pastor R.D. Bradford. Twenty years ago, La Wanda made Oklahoma City her home and united with Wildewood Baptist Church. She began employment with Comp I Insurance Company. At the time of her death, she was employed with William Sonoma Company.

She is preceded in death by her father, Maceo Anderson; a brother, Perry Anderson; niece, Shawn Halstied; grandparents, Mary and Perry Cohee and Vester and Ozella Anderson.

She leaves to forever cherish precious memories of a life well spent her mother, Elizabeth Anderson, Ardmore; two sisters, Neta Anderson-Knox, Oklahoma City, and Pearl Halstied-Crump, Fort Worth, Texas; a sister-in-law, Cathy Anderson, Ardmore; two nieces, Kiraha Knox-Hawkins, Oklahoma City, and Genevera Halstied, Fort Worth; two nephews, Michael Benjamin, Desoto, Texas, and Jeffery Anderson, Ardmore; 16 great-nieces and nephews; three great-great nieces and nephews; and an abundance of other relatives including a very special cousin, Pat Cohee, Ardmore.

La Wanda loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews, friends, and Facebook buddies. Her last words of wisdom to her Facebook friends are "Worrying doesn't take away tomorrow's TROUBLES; it takes away today's PEACE. God's got this. Trust Him!"

A celebration of life will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 225 1st Avenue SW. Pastor Willie Tiller will officiate, and Pastor E.W. Bryant will deliver the eulogy.

The viewal will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. Family will receive friends and a Wake Service will begin at Kirk Funeral Home Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. Cousins will serve as bearers.
