  • Only a loss to eventual champion Sulphur could dampen a successful tournament for host Tishomingo.
    The Indians started 3-1, with wins against Atoka (10-0), Madill (8-5) and Ada (8-6). Tish lost a close contest to Silo 5-4 on Friday.
    Against Atoka, Tishomingo had just three hits, but scored using a combination of walks (six) and hit batters (four). Chelsea Wilkinson had two of Tish's hits and three runs scored, and Hannah Brokaw pitched three innings, striking out four.
    Tishomingo has played the last 10 games without its regular starting pitcher Jaysa Northcutt, who's been out with an injury. The Indians improved to 5-5.
    "Our team's been playing a lot better here lately," Tishomingo coach Brandon Moreland said. "The two losses we had were to quality opponents. Sulphur's definitely in the top class in 3A.
    "After the tournament I feel really good about where we stand right now."
    Tish had a 4-1 lead over Silo before giving up a three-run third inning in the loss.
    Against Madill, Tishomingo rebounded with 12 hits. Taylor Wilkinson led the Indians with three hits and three RBIs, Emilea Niblett doubled and tripled and Chelsea Wilkinson added two hits for Tishomingo. Cheyanne Himelright drove in two runs for Madill.
    Tish followed its victory over Madill with another win. Trailing 2-0, the Indians posted six runs on Ada in the bottom of the third inning to pull away.
    Taylor Wilkinson tallied three hits for the second game in a row, Niblett drove in two runs and Hannah Brokaw and Mikayla Hook each had two hits for the Indians.

    Marietta 2-2 at Tish Tourney
    Marietta (4-8) put together a split at the Tishomingo Tournament, defeating Antlers 3-2 and Mill Creek 7-3, but losing to Sulphur and 9-2 to Ada.
    Marietta had 10 hits in a win over Antlers, with Shelby Langston and Myranda Goodspeed each accounting for two hits. Logan Willis and Ryleigh Harmon each doubled and Shawna Dewey added an RBI single.
    Kilee Spanglo pitched seven innings, giving up just two runs and striking out four.
    In a win over Mill Creek, Kendra McClendon tied the game at 1-1 with a solo homer in the second inning, and Harmon followed in the fourth with a two-run double to put Marietta ahead for good at 3-1.
    McClendon finished with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Kilee Spanglo added two hits and an RBI for the Indians.
    Against Ada, Marietta couldn't make its 11 hits count. Ada went ahead with a seven-run third inning.
    Langston and Goodspeed each were 2-for-3 with an RBI.

    Dickson wins 1 of 3 at HOF Festival
    Dickson salvaged its weekend at the Hall of Fame Festival in Shawnee with a 5-0 shutout win against Verden on Saturday.
    Madison Rozzell and Alex Garrison combined to allow just one hit over five innings. Rozzell struck out six and left after three innings of no-hit ball and the Comets nursing a 5-0 lead.
    Page 3 of 4 - Garrison came on to pitch the final two innings, logging three strikeouts.
    Abby McLaughlin, Kamryn Adams and Rozzell each had two hits, and Kelsie Bidwell and Bethany Willard had an RBI each for Dickson. Rozzell doubled and stole three bases.
    The Comets lost 10-0 to Bethel and 13-2 to Bethany on Friday. Dickson had just two hits against Bethel, ranked No. 5 in Class 4A.

    Plainview in a thriller over Little Axe
    Trailing 3-0 in the Hall of Fame Festival in Shawnee, Plainview scored four runs in its final at-bat to stun Little Axe 4-3 Friday.
    Makenzie Williams's RBI single scored Mykah Smith with the winning run. Prior to that, Kaylee Roskam hit a run-scoring double and Smith came through with a two-run single to tie the game. Roskam finished with three of Plainview's 10 hits.
    After giving up three runs in the second inning, Tayte Sampson settled in to keep Little Axe scoreless over five innings. She struck out two and walked two in the win.
    Against Elgin, Sampson was superb, striking out eight in six innings for the 1-0 victory. Plainview's lone run came in the sixth, when Roskam scored on an infield error by Elgin with two outs.
    Roskam added another three hits for Plainview.

    Lone Grove splits at Hall of Fame Fest
    Lone Grove came away from the Hall of Fame Festival with a 1-1 record after losing to Tecumseh 8-0 and beating Mount St. Mary 8-3.
    Lone Grove managed only three hits against Techumseh, with Harley McCutchen logging a double.
    Against Mount St. Mary, Lone Grove's offense found its groove behind 13 hits. McCutchen was at the center of the surge, going 3-for-4 with two triples, a double and four RBIs.
    Tanner Gray, Allison Bolles and Haley McCutchen each had two hits for the Longhorns (9-2).
    Lone Grove entered the tournament ranked 20th in Class 4A.
