  • Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at the Craddock Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Pearl Broome officiating.
    Arthur Gene Biggers was born June 29, 1945, in Ardmore, to Johnny D. Biggers and Mamie Elizabeth (Waddle) Biggers. The sixth child of eight siblings, he was affectionately referred to as "Opie".
    Arthur accepted Christ at an early age at the Church of God in Christ.
    Arthur attended Dunbar Elementary and Douglass High School of Ardmore, graduating in 1963. Upon graduation, he joined the military service. Upon his return, he moved to Evansville, Ind., after five years he relocated to Portland, Ore., where he made his home for 10 years. While there, he received his associate degree. He moved back to Ardmore in 1984 and continued his education receiving his Bachelor of Arts, and lived there until his demise.
    Biggers passed Sept. 3, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Ardmore.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn Russell; and two brothers, Johnny F. Biggers and Luther H. Herd.
    He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Yvette Walker and husband, Maurice of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Barbara Biggers McCoy and Martha Biggers Craig and husband, Verdie of Ardmore; three brothers, Samuel E. Biggers of Long Beach, Calif., Milton L. Herd and wife, Beverly of Tulsa, and Jerry W. Biggers and wife, Carole of Ardmore; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins by the dozen; and a host of other relatives and friends.
    Honorary pallbearers and flower bearers will be classmates of 1963 and friends.
