Funeral services for Lawrence Wayne Bell, 77, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at the Maranatha Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy Holman officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The son of Albert J. Bell and Julia Ann (Lester) Bell, Wayne was born Feb. 29, 1936, in Pampa, Texas, and passed away at his residence on Sept. 9, 2013.
He and the former Thelma Sue Brown were married April 10, 1959, in Ardmore. She preceded him in death on March 25, 2003.
An Ardmore resident for most of his life, Wayne served his country in the United States Army. He had worked with Southern Vending and also was a truck driver with several companies including: Groendyke Transport, Bacon Transport and Joe Brown. Wayne had also taught at the Ardmore Truck Driving School. He was a member of the Maranatha Free Will Baptist Church. Wayne enjoyed fishing, riding and racing motorcycles.
He is survived by his sons, Gerald Edward Bell and wife, Donna, of Ardmore, and Jerry Wayne Bell of Healdton; daughter Kalaugha Sorrels and husband, Rickey, of Pauls Valley; grandchildren Gloria Boettcher and husband, Reed, Brandon Bell and wife, Heather, and his mother Carllan Lane, Jillian Enterline and husband, Charlie, Dru Bell and wife, Monica, Jacci Black and husband, John, Tera Broughten and fiancé, James Whittle, Jeremy Bell and their mother, Jana Ellifritz, Daric Roberts Sorrels, Dale Sorrels, Evan Sorrels and Ben Sorrels and wife, Ashley; great-grandchildren Isabell, Lydia, Lexi, Carsen, Journi, Jewlia Sunshine, Conner, Bently, Ryliegh, Trace, Kaitlynn, Jacob, Xander, Lana and soon-to-be Ryder Wayne; brother Doug Bell and his wife, Cleta; sister and brothers-in-law Polly Taylor, Dolly Keith, Lorena Smith, Elsie and Dub Lowden, Linda and Bill Taylor, Corkey and Betty Brown, Mary and Bob Brogdin, Rex Riner and Judy Butts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; granddaughter Apryl; great-grandson Gauge; brother Jim Bell and wife, Nina; in-laws Hattie Riner, Betty Hammer and Gerald Brown; and mother and father-in-law R.U. and Hattie Brown.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Bell, Jeremy Bell, Dru Bell, Daric Wayne Sorrels, Charlie Enterline, John Black, Reed Boettcher, Michael Wayne Word and Cecil Allen Jr. Honorary bearers will be Dale, Ben and Evan Sorrels and the Brown family nephews.
The family will receive friends 6-8 this evening at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Maranatha Free Will Baptist Church.
