Plainview High School will celebrate homecoming Friday during its game against Elgin.
Queen candidates are Katie Lackey, Chelsea Walker and Jessica Woods.
Lackey, the daughter of Paul and Sandy Lackey, is a member of the Oklahoma High School Rodeo Association, Carter County 4-H Leadership Team and Beta Club. She is the International Finals Youth Rodeo Director. Lackey is the recipient of the 4-H Health and Fitness Scholarship as well as the Principal’s Citizenship Award. She is an Ardmoreite Blue Ribbon Scholar and consistently on the superintendent’s honor roll. Lackey hopes to receive a rodeo scholarship and major in business management.
Lackey’s escort is Gage Kennedy, the son of Kyle and Angie Kennedy. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Ardmore and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He plays basketball, football and baseball. Gage is on the principal’s honor roll and is in Who’s Who.
Walker is the daughter of Cindy and Fred Shirley and Larry and Diane Walker. She is a member of FCA and attends First Baptist Church. She is an Ameriserve mentor and a tumbling instructor. Walker is a member of the National Honor Society and listed on the principal’s honor roll. She plans to attend the University of Oklahoma and major in pediatric medicine.
Walker’s escort is Nate Hoben, the son of Lori and Hobe Hoben. He is vice president of the senior class, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and FCA. He plays golf and was on the 2013 state championship team and 2013 All-Ardmoreite Golf Team. He plans to attend OU and major in accounting.
Woods is the daughter of Dustin Woods and Darlene Nelson. She participated in the mentoring program and is a member of FCA. She participates in track, cross country and summer track. She plans to attend the University of Central Oklahoma and major in education.
Woods’ escort is Brandon Locke, the son of James and Ruth Ann Locke. He is a member of FCA and First Baptist Church. He participates in football and yearbook staff. Woods plans to attend Texas A&M and major in film production.
Junior princess is Payton Brewster, the daughter of Mark and Mindi Brewster. She participates in track, cross country and FCA. She is also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Brewster has been a medalist at the state track meet for both her freshman and sophomore years. She plans to attend Oklahoma State University to pursue a career in speech pathology.
Brewster’s escort is Cash Roberts, the son of Sean Roberts and Misty Page. He enjoys fishing, football, basketball, hunting and spending time with his friends. He is actively involved in FCA. Roberts plans to attend college.
The sophomore princess is Madi Glavan, the daughter of Jeremy and Jennifer Glavan. She enjoys playing the guitar, singing and dancing. She is the recipient of the Scholastic Award for Drawing and listed on the principal’s honor roll. Glavan plans to attend Colorado State University where she will major in art and psychology.
Glavan’s escort is Dylan Marr, the son of Amber and Bryan Marr. He is a member of student council, plays football, runs track, and sings in the choir. He is on the principal’s honor roll. He plans to attend college and major in physical therapy.
This year’s freshman princess is Hanna Beth Matherly, the daughter of Brett and Jackie Matherly. She attends Marantha Free Will Baptist Church. She plays tournament softball for the Oklahoma City Twisters and is the starting third baseman for the Plainview softball team. She is a member of National Honor Society. Although her major is yet undecided, she plans to attend college and play collegiate softball.
Matherly’s escort is Broc Berus, the son of Chris and Sammie Berus. He plays football and basketball and running track. He attends Christ Community Church. Berus plans to earn a college football scholarship.
Last year’s homecoming queen, Rachel Greisman will return to pass on the crown. She is he daughter of Richard and Sandy Greisman and attends OU.
Greisman’s escort is Vinny Martinez, the son of Daniel and Cynthia Atencio. He is a member of the football and baseball team and is a member of FCA. Martinez plans to attend OU to pursue an anesthesiology degree.
Crown bearer is Kasey Smith, the son of Kelley and Becky Smith. He is a student in Stephanie McGuire’s kindergarten class where he enjoys building with Legos. At home, he likes helping his dad, playing Minecraft, and hanging out with his best friend. When Smith grows up, he wants to drive an 18-wheeler truck.
Flower girl is Anna Kate Ownbey, the daughter of Scott and Megan Ownbey. She is the granddaughter of Cindy and Mike McCullough and Pat and Kathy Ownbey and the niece of Susan and Will Perkins. Anna Kate is currently a student in Sharon Woodley’s kindergarten class. She enjoys art, singing, dance and piano. When she grows up, Ownbey wants to be a school teacher.
Ownbey’s escort is Trey Tully, the son of Jack and Kerry Tully. The senior is involved in football, FCA, and First Baptist Church of Ardmore, and is consistently on the honor roll. He also does reconstruction cleanup for Cash Co. Industries. Tully plans to play football at Oklahoma Baptist University, major in biology, minor in chemistry and become a chiropractor.
