Curtis Wayne Chapman, 77, of Ardmore passed from this life Sept. 14, 2013, at the Veterans Center in Ardmore. He was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Albany, Texas, to Joseph Henry and Hester May Barum Chapman. He retired from the military after serving 17 years in the Army and three years in the Marine Corps, with one year's duty in Vietnam. He then entered the civil service where he worked 25 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans organization.
Curtis and Sandra K. Hill were married Nov. 6, 1999, in Fort Worth, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra K. Chapman, of the home in Ardmore; one son, Donald Wesley Sheffield and his wife Brandi of Ft Worth, Texas; one daughter, LaFonda Kay and her husband John Henneck of Ft. Worth, Texas; one brother Hugh Chapman of Ft. Worth, Texas; and two grandchildren, Wesley and Casey.
Graveside services with military honors will be held for Chapman at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Ryan Cemetery, with Mark Kunkel officiating. Visitation was held at the Ryan Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and will also be held 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan, Okla.
