  • University of Oklahoma volleyball senior Sallie McLaurin was named the National Player of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

McLaurin, a middle blocker from Midwest City, was previously honored as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week. She became the first student-athlete to be honored with the award for three consecutive weeks.

In a 3-0 weekend for the Sooners, McLaurin led the attack with a .630 hitting percentage and 4.22 kills per set. She notched double-digit kills in all three matches, including a weekend-high 15 against Missouri State. McLaurin set a season-high in hitting percentage at .722 in the weekend opener against Alabama A&M. Defensively, she added 19 total blocks, averaging 2.11 per set.

McLaurin is the second Sooner to be honored with a weekly national award from the AVCA. Caitlin Higgins earned the award as a freshman on Nov. 4, 2008.
