  • A survey of 1,000 American adults released Wednesday showed a high when 39 percent said now is a good time to sell a house. It is the highest level measured since regular tracking began in April 2009, but 37 percent still say now is not a good time to put a home on the market in the area they live in and 24 percent were not sure.

Fifty percent said buying a home is the best investment most families can make, but 29 percent disagreed and 22 percent are were sure. Those numbers showed little changed from last month. The number of Americans who see purchasing a home as a family’s best investment has ranged from 44 percent to 57 percent over the past two years, but 67 percent felt this way in early May 2009.

Homeowners believe much more strongly than those who do not own a home that now is a good time to sell and that a home is still a family’s best investment.
