  • A 13-year-old Ardmore Middle School student, who brought a knife to school, is facing an assault with a weapon charge.
According to Ardmore Police Department reports, Sgt. Ruben Garcia, AMS school resource officer, received information about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday of the possibility the student was armed. The student was detained pending the outcome of Garcia's on-the-scene investigation.
Friday, Sgt. Bobby Moore, APD Criminal Investigation Division supervisor, confirmed reports concerning the incident had been forwarded to the Office of Juvenile Affairs for review and a possible charge of assault with a weapon. Moore said a "locked blade" type knife was recovered from the student. In addition, the investigation revealed the suspect had threatened to use the weapon to harm another student and told other students about his intentions.
Moore said the motive behind the teenager's actions remained unclear.
