Erl L. Harman, 84, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Ardmore, to be with his Lord. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Ardmore with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating.

Erl was born on July 6, 1929, to Lionel Buryl Harman and Flourizell June (Mincks) Harman. He married Margaret Ann Parker on January 7, 1950, at Ardmore.

His family moved to Joplin, Missouri, where he attended and graduated from Joplin Schools in 1947. While attending high school, he was an ROTC Cadet, training personnel who went to World War II. In December of 1949, he moved to Ardmore working for Western Electric installing central office equipment. He met his wife, Margaret, who worked for the local phone company. Erl opened Erl's Clothing Store and after he closed the store, he went to work for Sears Department Store where he retired.

Erl enjoyed fishing, traveling extensively overseas and going on cruises. He was an avid golfer and a member of the First Baptist Church where he was in the choir for over 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife.

Erl is survived by one son, Stephen E. Harman and wife, Patsy of Durant; two daughters, Marcia A. Merrell and husband, Mike of Tulsa, and Teresa Longest of Ardmore; grandchildren, Charity Huffman and husband, Eric of Durant, Austin Harman and wife, Julie of Calera, Samuel Harman of Dallas, Seth Harman of Chicago, Emily Merrell of Moore, Michael Merrell and wife, Stephanie of Houston, and Laurel Longest of Ardmore; and great-grandchildren, Cherish Huffman and Sheppard Huffman of Durant, and Makalee Harman, Emberlee Harman and Kinzlee Harman of Calera.
