LONE GROVE — The Longhorns are heading into the district playoffs with momentum following a 6-0 whitewashing of Byng. Lone Grove scored two runs in the second, fourth and sixth inning in picking up the win.
Madi Baughman picked up the win, giving up three hits and no runs in the shutout. The sophomore struck out three and walked one.
Cheyanna Stepp had a strong day at the dish, going 3-for-3 with two runs. Haley McCutchen was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs and Ashton Johnson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Lone Grove improved to 26-9 with the win.
Plainview 3, Pauls Valley 2
PAULS VALLEY — The Plainview Indians broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the eighth inning to defeat Pauls Valley 3-2. Tatye Sampson picked up the win in an ironman outing, throwing eight innings. Sampson gave up one earned run on seven this while striking out one and walking two.
Hannah Beth Matherly was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run to lead the Indians. Kayle Roskam had one hit; a triple and Sampson had a double. Also picking up a hit for Plainview was Mykah Smith, Mikaylyn Gerken and McKenzie Williams.
Plainview improved to 15-14 with the win.
Davis 10, Silo 1
Davis 5, Silo 0
SILO — The Wolves slipped in some pre-regional softball, sweeping Silo as a warm-up leading into Thursday's action. Macie Buckaloo picked up the win in the 10-1 win, working five innings. The freshman gave up seven hits and one run, walking and striking out three.
Jolie Romine was 4-for-4 with two runs and an RBI and Casady Webb was 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Lexi Williams, Becky Wilson and Meghan Williams each had two hits in the win.
Taylor Martin held Silo scoreless in a 5-0 win. Martin gave up four hits, one walk and had three strikeouts. Webb had a good game at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Williams was 2-for-2 with a run as the duo accounted for four of Davis' seven hits.
With the wins, the Wolves improved to 25-8 on the season.
