Funeral services for Raymond "Ray-J" Jiminez, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, officiated by the Reverend Thomas Dowdell.

A time of visitation and support for family and friends will be from 7 to 8 this evening at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.

Of Puerto Rican descent, Raymond was born September 24, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Ralph and Anna Lasalle Jiminez; Raymond died September 26, 2013, at his rural Ardmore residence.

Raymond served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged while stationed at the Ardmore Air Force Base.

He and the former Orlena Olita Phillips met while Raymond was stationed at the Ardmore Air Force Base. They were married May 1, 1954, in Ardmore. Orlena preceded him in death April 12, 2009.

A member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Raymond and his wife had operated Ray's Roller Rink in Ardmore for several years. When Uniroyal tire manufacturing company opened in Ardmore he worked there as a tire builder until retiring. He later worked for a time at Walmart and at 1-800-Flowers. Raymond enjoyed painting, watching the hummingbirds that came to his feeders and spending time with his family.

Survivors include two sons, Tony Jiminez and his wife, Lori of Ardmore, and Steven Marshall and his wife, Amanda of Moore; his granddaughter, Tara Jiminez, Ardmore; a brother, Peter Jiminez, West Babylon, New York; three sisters, Tony Sacristan of New Jersey, Anna Psaerras and Jenny Marano of Florida; a sister-in-law, Mary Wyatt, Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Jiminez; and sisters, Teresa and Trinidad.

Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory arranged services and provided Cremation-With-Care.
