  • Ricky McGee Jr., who was shot twice outside a northeast side liquor store Friday afternoon, continued Saturday to remain mute about the identity of the gunman or the reason behind the attack, but investigators said that doesn't mean the case is closed.
Detective Matt Dunn, Ardmore Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and assigned as the lead investigator, said late Saturday McGee isn't the only victim, and the case is being actively pursued.
"He is the only person who was injured, but one of the bullets ricocheted and struck another car, causing damage, and that means McGee isn't the only victim," Dunn said. "We are still working to identify the person who fired the gun."
Sgt. Ryan Hunnicutt, APD public information officer, said officers responded about 1:35 p.m. to several 911 calls reporting the shooting outside the store located on A Street NE.
While police were responding to the scene, McGee was driving himself to the local hospital where officers found him seeking treatment for a gunshot wound to the arm and a second one to the thigh. But the 27-year-old Ardmore man refused to answer investigators' questions about who shot him and why.
Investigators did determine McGee was apparently getting out of his car outside of the store when the trigger man, described as a light-complected black man, walked up to the car and fired several shots at him. The gunman then ran from the scene, accompanied by two white female companions.
"A motive and suspect identity are unknown due to McGee's unwillingness to cooperate with investigators," Hunnicutt said at the time, adding McGee, who had not sustained any life-threatening injuries, appeared to be the gunman's only target.
Although McGee was giving investigators the silent treatment Saturday, Dunn urged anyone else with information concerning the shooting to contact him by calling (580) 223-1212.
