A Love County woman died in a one-vehicle accident Monday morning.
Betty Burton, 66, was traveling westbound on state Highway 96, a half mile west of Burneyville when she failed to negotiate a curve. Traveling in a 2006 Ford Ranger pickup, Burton departed the roadway to the left and struck a tree, said Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigators. The vehicle overturned one complete time.
Burton was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Watts Funeral Home in Marietta.
The Department of Public Safety report indicated a seat belt was equipped and not in use. The condition of the driver was normal, and the cause of the collision was listed as too fast for rain/wet roadway.
