  • Three Oklahoma Youth Orchestras ensembles – the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and Sinfonia – will perform in their first concert of the season Sunday, October 27 at 3:00 p.m. at Edmond Santa Fe High School.

Come celebrate the joy of making music with each ensemble comprised of talented middle and high school students from across the state. Oklahoma Youth Orchestras dedicated staff of music educators, including Oklahoma Teacher of the Year Peter Markes, challenge their students with selections to enhance their musical abilities at each concert. The Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, the flagship orchestra of the organization led by Dr. John Clinton, will present a program of classical works including those of Verdi, Wagner and Weber featuring orchestra member Olivia Fletcher in a concerto for bassoon and orchestra.

"Giving high school seniors the opportunity to perform as soloists with full orchestra is one of the many opportunities for growth that the Oklahoma Youth Orchestras provides budding musicians," said Clinton. "Ms. Fletcher is one of three students selected to perform a concerto this season."

The Chamber Orchestra and Sinfonia, led by Dawn Thrailkill and Gena Alexander, will perform challenging pieces that have developed their musicianship since the start of the season. "Our students are excited to present their first concert of the season!" said Alexander.
