  • Cable ONE general manager David Wall said area customers won't see a promised "adjustment" for the loss of some of the cable company's programming this month, but the refund will "automatically" be applied to bills generated in November.
"A $3.50 credit will automatically be applied in November. You won't need to call our offices, you will just get it," Wall told The Ardmoreite late Tuesday while discussing customers' complaints that their current bills were not reflecting compensation for lost programing.
The feud between Cable ONE and Turner Networks started earlier this month when the cable company dropped Turner Classic Movie Channel, CNN, CNN Espanol, Headline News, Boomerang and TruTV during derailed contract negotiations. In turn, Turner yanked TBS, TNT and the Cartoon Network. Those channels were being aired by Cable ONE through a separate agreement with National Cable Television Cooperative. At the time, Cable ONE CEO Tom Might called Turner's action "an extraordinary act of retaliation and bullying."
Tuesday, Wall indicated he has received information "both sides are returning to the table," and negotiations regarding program rates were resuming. But while he confirmed the cable company and the broadcaster were back on speaking terms, he made no promises.
"We still don't know what's going on — how long it's going to take," he said.
In the meantime, the local GM said, "People need to know that all of the channels aren't off the air. We are previewing the Hallmark Channel on channel 43, that was the movie channel, the Game Show Network is being previewed on the Cartoon Network and the Science Channel is on TNT."
