Ardmore police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning that claimed the life of a local man and injured two others.
Sgt. Audie Gee, APD Patrol Division, is leading the investigation into the 5:55 a.m. accident on U.S. Highway 70 East near Lake Murray Drive
Preliminary investigative reports show George Andrews, 68, was driving eastbound in a Nissan when the car went "left of center" for an unknown reason. The Nissan struck a westbound Chevrolet pickup, driven by 41-year-old Harold Akins. Akins' wife, Stacy, was a passenger in the pickup at the time. Andrews was taken to Mercy Hospital Ardmore where he was pronounced dead a short time after the crash. Akins and his wife were also taken by ambulance to the local hospital. The couple was believed to have sustained broken bones as a result of the crash.
