  • Dull moments were few and far between as area residents came together for the Festival of Lights Auction at the Ardmore Convention Center Tuesday night.
The night was a precursor to the holiday season with the theme "Celebrate the Magic of Christmas." Those attending the auction bid on three different sections of items during the silent auction portion of the evening, taking breaks to sample food from different establishments within the city of Ardmore. Bo Girard provided an evening of entertainment with a crowd interactive magic performance and the live auction was once again a success.
"We made some changes this year that I feel were very positive," Mita Bates, Ardmore Chamber of Commerce President said. "People enjoyed the entertainment and we had exceptional auction items. Every year, the quality of the items goes up. The other thing the people enjoyed was the different food stations and the variety."
Sharie Blankenship had a big night, winning the hidden diamond at the diamond martini bar. The diamond is valued at $1,100.
"I am absolutely shocked," Blankenship said. "My daughter has a ring that I am going to put the diamond in. We come every year and regardless if we win or not, we support the Festival of Lights."
There were eight different items bid on during the live auction that included, a getaway to Colorado, sets of Oklahoma City Thunder tickets, a romance package, Botox treatments holiday party at Lake Murray and a used Club Car Fairway Villager Golf Cart. There was also an automobile package that featured four Michelin tires. In total, the live auction bid brought in $6,800. The total amount raised in the auction will be made available in the coming days.
Proceeds from the auction benefit the Regional Park Christmas Display.
