  • A recent public opinion survey of 1,000 likely voters showed 43 percent trust GOP more on health care while 39 percent trust Democrats more.

In September, the two were essentially tied, with Republicans posting a 43 percent and Democrats 42 percent

This is the lowest level of trust in Democrats on this issue since January 2011, and the biggest Republican lead since October of last year.

When it comes to its importance in terms of their vote in the next congressional election, voters rate health care second only to the economy, with 71 percent who consider it a very important issue.

Republicans have rebounded from a seven-point deficit a month ago during the government shutdown to take a one-point lead on the latest Generic Congressional Ballot.
