Wednesday and Sunday may be the heaviest travel days of the Thanksgiving holiday, but Capt. Ronnie Hampton, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troop F commander and state crash team coordinator, says troopers will be out in "extra" numbers throughout the holiday.

Troop F had emphasized patrols on Interstate 35 Wednesday. Again Sunday, Hampton said those traveling I-35 can expect a stronger OHP presence. But what about the days in between? Troopers will be on the road throughout the troop conducting another kind of special emphasis.

"We will have extra driving under the influence patrols troop wide (Carter, Johnston, Love, Murray, Marshall, Garvin and Pontotoc counties)," Hampton said, adding the additional patrol expense is possible "by using overtime funds through the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office."
