The Department of Public Safety identified Takshi Yamamoto, 35, of Stillwater as the individual killed in an early-morning accident Saturday.

The accident took place at 12:10 a.m. at the 45 mile marker of Interstate 35. Yamamoto was traveling south on the outside lane of I-35 on a Roadmaster bicycle and was struck by a 2000 Dodge 3500 van. The van was in the outside lane heading south, and was driven by Michael Wayne Bookman Jr., 25, of Lawton. There were eight people in the van, and none were injured.

Yamamoto was pronounced dead at the scene due to head and leg injuries. The cause of the collision is unknown pending investigation, and the condition of the van was listed as apparently normal. Yamamoto was not wearing a helmet, and seat belts were in use in the van.
