Victor Louis Redman, 85, died peacefully on Dec. 3, 2013, at the Veteran's Center in Norman. A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel, 117 E. Noble Avenue in Guthrie, with Rick Fuller officiating. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2013.
Victor was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Guthrie, to Glenn and Ruby Redman. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his great-granddaughter, Skyla Dawn Brooks.
Victor graduated from Guthrie High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Navy following the end of World War II. He spent 17 months in Guam during his tour of duty. After serving in the military, he went to work in the oilfield driving a wrench truck for three years, and then began to roughneck. He then went to mud school and worked in Perry before moving to Ardmore in 1953. He worked in Ardmore for 23 years, and was then placed in the office and became a general manager for Drilling Mud, Inc. in Oklahoma City. He retired in 1985 from there.
Victor married Dorothy Mae Priddis on Jan. 14, 1949. This year was their 64th wedding anniversary. Victor loved his children, Glen Roger Redman and wife, Vickie of Noble, and Dale Kay Moore and her husband, Dub Moore of Coppell, Texas. He had six grandchildren: Tammy Young of Noble, Jason Redman and his wife, Alana of Eufaula, Amy McCormack and her husband, Chad of Okmulgee, Miriah Jones and her husband, Don of Oklahoma City, Jennifer Yeats and her husband, Patrick of Coppell, Texas, and Kelly Decker and her husband, Marshall of Flower Mound, Texas. He had 16 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses and doctors who took care of him in his final hours.
