  • Will Rogers Elementary students are learning they are never too young to shop.
The Lil' Shopper's Shoppe run by the Parent-Teacher Organization allows students the opportunity to buy Christmas presents for their loved ones. Each class visits the shop twice, once to gather ideas and make a budget, the second to purchase gifts.
"I like it a lot because I love giving gifts to my dad and my momma and my bubba, and I love holidays," says kindergartner Haven Barr.
Gifts are wrapped in bags and made ready for the tree. About 80 percent of the items are $5 or less.
"It teaches kids how to give and not just receive," explains Anna Gonzales, PTO president.
The shopping experience is helping to put many of the youngsters in the holiday mood.
"I want my momma to be happy. I'm getting a present for her because I love her," says kindergartener Ruby Johnston.
