  • The NCAA says 523 sites have been awarded as hosts for 82 of its 89 championships for the 2014-18 seasons. As part of that announcement, Oklahoma City was selected to host four NCAA Championship events – 2015 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Regional, 2015 Division II Softball National Championship and the 2017 & 2018 NCAA Division III Softball National Championships.
For the first time, Oklahoma City will host the Division II and Division III Softball National Championships. Oklahoma City will continue to host the NCAA Women's College World Series, but its footprint in collegiate softball continues to expand. The Division II Championship will take place in May 2015 and the Division III National Championship will take place in both May 2017 and 2018. These championships will be played at the home for the NCAA Women's College World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium, which is currently undergoing a huge stadium renovation, and will be the week prior to that event. The University of Central Oklahoma will be cohost to all three softball championships with Oklahoma City All Sports.
The NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Regional also makes its returns to Oklahoma City for the fourth time in eight years. Oklahoma City has set the bar for this event. Attendance for the prior three NCAA Women's Regionals (2008, 2009, 2013) were some of the largest attended events in the entire NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. The regional will take place in March of 2015 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena, cohosted by the University of Oklahoma.
The original pool of NCAA bids included 1,984 submissions. The sites were selected by the respective sport committees, made up of coaches and administrators from NCAA member schools and conferences, and ultimately approved by the appropriate divisional championships cabinets or committees.
