The daughter of the late Calvin Cohee and Leatha (Kimbal) Cohee, Opal was born on Sept. 7, 1930, at Springer, and was called to come home to her Glory Land on Dec. 19, 2013, in Ardmore, at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 12 days.
At an early age, Opal moved to Kansas City, Mo., there she was married to Ivory Mims from 1954 until 1961; to this marriage, five children were born. Opal married Curtis Cannady on Dec. 10, 1962, who preceded her in death on March 28, 2001, having celebrated 39 years of marriage.
A resident of Kansas City, Mo., for 56 years, Opal had worked at the Midwest and Ambassador Hotels, Central High School and also a nursing home. Failing health necessitated her return to Ardmore on Oct. 5, 2010. In her leisure time, Opal enjoyed reading, cooking, travel and being with family.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joe Mims; a grandson, Rodney Cohee; a great-grandson, Marquis Cohee; her bothers, Melvin, Carl, Raymond, Ralph and Earnest Cohee; and her sisters, Estella Cohee and Amanda Cohee.
A special thanks for the preparation of food and their time to Margaret Moore, Okiya McGee, Debra Cohee, and Estelle Banks; the flower girls Pernetha Knight, Shermaine Shannon, Odessa Miller, Natasha McGee, Nikayla Kenoly and Teshelma Hines; and the pallbearers, Larry King, Dwayne Marshall, David Shannon, Toby Cohee and Billy Williamson.
