Graveside services for Wilma H. Martin of Marietta are set for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, with Rev. Tommy Higle officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.
Martin was born March 29, 1916, in Gainesville, Texas, the daughter of William Hiram McDaniel and Myrtle Howe McDaniel. She passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, in Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta, at the age of 97.
She and J.O. "Boots" Martin were married in Gainesville on Jan. 19, 1938, and the couple had made their home in Love County since 1946. An excellent homemaker, Martin was also employed as an insurance agent for King L. McKinney Insurance Agency for many years. She attended Marietta's First United Methodist Church with her husband, and taught Sunday school for 23 years. In addition, she was a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary of Mercy Health Love County.
Martin was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 19, 1980, her parents, a brother and two sisters.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe "Pete" Martin Jr. and wife, Linda, and Larry K. Martin and wife, Carole, all of Marietta; a brother, Dr. Wallace H. McDaniel and wife, Leah, of Spring, Texas; four grandchildren, Randy Martin, Melissa Hadley, L. King Martin Jr. and Sean Martin; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers are Randy Martin, King Martin, Sean Martin, Alex Hill, Kyle Lee and Allston Hadley.
The Martin family would like to especially thank Dr. Tom O'Connor and the management and staff of Lake Country Nursing Center for their care and kindness shown our mother during her stay there.
