  • Fugitive inmate taken into custody

  • A routine pedestrian check Saturday night resulted in the arrest of a fugitive inmate from Colorado.
    Matthew Gomez, 21, was arrested after a pursuit that began in the 200 block of Sam Noble Parkway at 10:05 p.m. Ardmore Police Officer Eric Grisham was patrolling the area and stopped two men on foot. One of the men, who was later identified as Gomez, fled down B Street NE through a riverbed to a culvert where Officer Jacob Welch cut him off.
    Gomez was listed by the Colorado Department of Corrections as a community corrections walk away, which is an offender on inmate status in a transitional community corrections facility or a transitional community setting who failed to return as directed or failed to report as directed and whose whereabouts are unknown.
    He was sentenced on April 11 according to the department of corrections, and had a listed parole eligibility date of Aug. 19 of this year.
    The man Gomez was with at the time of the pedestrian stop had no listed warrants and was released. Gomez was taken to the Carter County Detention Center.
