  • Legislators want Constitutional change

  • Oklahoma voters would decide whether to slash legislative pay in half, limit the governor to one term and make other changes to the Oklahoma Constitution under legislation being proposed for the upcoming legislative session.
Nearly 250 measures, mostly Senate bills, have been filed so far in advance of next week's deadline for measures to be introduced before the 2014 legislative session begins Feb. 3. Included among those are more than a half-dozen resolutions that, if approved, would send proposed constitutional amendments to a vote of the people.
Two state senators have proposals to limit the Legislature to meeting once every two years instead of every year, and one of those would cut legislative pay in half.
Another proposes to limit future governors to a single, four-year term.
