  • Shawnee police are looking for suspects in a weekend drive-by shooting after the occupants of a white SUV reportedly fired several rounds into a pickup traveling near downtown Shawnee.
The shooting incident occurred about 2:33 a.m. Sunday morning at Highland and Pesotum Streets.
According to a police report, Officer Richard Ruiz was impounding a vehicle at Highland and Draper Streets when he heard a series of consecutive gunshots to the southeast of his location.
He then saw a white SUV traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Highland Street and then southbound on Center Street; Officer Andrew Terry traveled that area but was unable to locate the suspect vehicle.
A few minutes later, a woman called police to report her children were shot at while they were in the area of Highland and Pesotum Streets, so officers responded there and found five .40 caliber shell casings, which were all logged into evidence.
Police also noted there were multiple bullet holes in the victims’ Chevrolet Silverado pickup. No injuries were reported from the incident.
Police reported the victims were unable to provide a description of the suspects but the vehicle was described as being a white Jeep.
Anyone with information is asked to call Shawnee police at 273-2121 or contact the anonymous CrimeStoppers tip line at 273-0989.
