Funeral services, honoring the life of Lucaille Boyd, are 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Warren Memorial United Methodist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Cyril Burks officiating. Her final resting place will be in Clearview Cemetery.
Lucaille Boyd died peacefully Thursday, March 6, 2014, in Ardmore, at the age of 109. Lucaille was born on January 15, 1905, in Brookshire, Texas, before Oklahoma became a state, and while Theodore Roosevelt was President of the United States. In honor of her 109th birthday, a high traffic area of Southbrook Healthcare Facility was renamed in her honor. She lived and worked on farms in several towns in West Texas and southern Oklahoma. After moving to Ardmore, she became a member of Warren Memorial United Methodist Church. She worked as a housekeeper and married Armor Boyd in 1959.
She is survived by three step-children, Joyce Bowles, Chicago, Donald Boyd, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Melita Pennington and husband, Robert, Riverside, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Gilbert Boyd and wife, Valorie, Los Angeles, Gordon Dotimas, Wichita Falls, Texas, Thomas Boyd, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Dyron Boyd, Wichita Falls, Texas, Kimberly Boyd, Corinth, Mich., Darryl Bowles and wife, Brenda, Silver Springs, Md., and Micki Clowney, Los Angeles; and many great-grandchildren.
Honorary bearers are James Nash, Charles Cox, Leon Thomas and Ronnie Roberson. Active bearers are John Kelly, Justin Douglas, John Thompson, Craig Owens, Omar Humphrey, Clayton Benjamin and Martin Maytubby. The women of Warren Memorial Methodist Church will serve as flower bearers. Services are entrusted to the care of Kirk Funeral Home.
