  • Archbishop Paul S. Coakley of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City and Bishop Edward Slattery of the Diocese of Tulsa will lead a group of speakers during the annual Oklahoma Catholic Advocacy Day at the Oklahoma State Capitol on Tuesday, March 25, from 8 a.m. to noon. This annual event, sponsored by Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City with support from Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Tulsa, gives Catholic voters from across Oklahoma the opportunity to connect with lawmakers about proposed legislation that will affect the poor and most vulnerable.

The advocacy day will begin at 8 a.m. with a breakfast for all participants and their legislators. Presentations by Archbishop Coakley, Bishop Slattery, Richard Klinge, senior director of advocacy and outreach at Catholic Charities OKC, and others will highlight the legislative process and pending bills.

Reservations are requested by March 24. To register or make general inquiries, contact Becky Van Pool at 405-523-3003 or bvanpool@catholiccharitiesok.org. Attendees are strongly encouraged to contact their legislator before arriving at the event, inviting them to breakfast and scheduling a meeting. The names and contact information for Oklahoma State representatives and senators can be found by visiting www.oklegislature.gov.
