  • Tigers start Showcase with decisive win

  • The Ardmore Tigers won their third game of the season in convincing fashion 8-2 against Latta on Thursday to open the Ardmore/Lone Grove Showcase. 
    The Tigers led 4-0 after two innings, and made it 8-1 in the sixth. 
    Latta brought one run across in the top of the seventh, but failed to mount a comeback.
    Breyden Brookshire led Ardmore with two hits, while Jarred Hall and Jake Patterson had one RBI apiece. 
    Sam Chandler pitched seven innings with six strikeouts for the win. 
    Ardmore continues tournament play today at 5 p.m. against Dickson and 7:30 p.m. against Plainview.
     
    Plainview 12, Harrah 4
    The Plainview Indians started the Ardmore/Lone Grove Showcase with a comeback win over Harrah on Thursday. 
    Harrah led 4-0 heading to the fifth inning when the Indians scored all 12 of their runs to take the win. 
    Carter Bowker led the Indians with three hits, and Gage Kennedy had three RBIs on two hits. 
    Drake Harper had two RBIs and Kyle Williams added an RBI. 
    Williams also went five innings on the mound with six strikeouts.
    Plainview 18, Latta 14
    The Indians needed another big inning late in the game against Latta to come away with the victory.
    Latta led 10-9 after four innings and made it 14-9 with four runs in the bottom of the fifth. 
    Plainview’s resilient bats brought in nine runs in the sixth to pull ahead for the win. 
    Harper had four RBIs and Williams added three RBIs with two hits. Bowker and Williams tossed three innings apiece on the mound, and Bowker had two strikeouts. 
    The Indians improve to 8-3 on the season and continue tournament play today at 7:30 p.m. against host Ardmore.
     
    Dickson 7, Lone Grove JV 6
    The Dickson Comets notched the second win of the season to open the Ardmore/Lone Grove Showcase on Thursday.
    Lone Grove’s Junior Varsity led most of the way with a 6-3 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. 
    The Comets put together a four-run rally to beat the Longhorns.
    Shawn McClellan and Miko Blancett had two walks apiece for Dickson.
    Bret Jones went seven innings on the mound with eight strikouts for the Comets.
     
    Duncan 13, Dickson 2
    The Class 5A Duncan Demons struck early and often Thursday in a five-inning win over Dickson.
    Page 2 of 2 - Duncan led 9-0 after two innings and added four more over the third and fourth innings leading to a run-rule stoppage after five innings.
    Jones had two hits for the Comets.
    Jacob Reems tossed two innings and Chandler Smith pitched one with a strikeout in the loss.
    Dickson will face Ardmore at 5 p.m. today.
