Mississippi death row inmate Michelle Byrom will get a new trial, the state supreme court ruled today. Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood wanted the execution to take place in March, but the high court wouldn't grant the OK to go ahead, and now Byrom's case has been sent back to trial. Byrom was accused of killing her husband, but her son said several times that he was the actual killer.
    Quote of note
"Safety is our highest priority, and we are committed to protecting the most vulnerable victims of backover accidents -- our children and seniors. As a father, I can only imagine how heart-wrenching these types of accidents can be for families, but we hope that today's rule will serve as a significant step toward reducing these tragic accidents." - Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx, commenting on a new rule by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that new vehicles will be required to have backup cameras by spring 2018.
