  • The Ardmore Police Department has been notified of some issues within the Greater Southwest Historical Museum which may warrant an investigation.
“The museum has notified us of some discrepancies,” said Det. Matt Dunn, Ardmore Police Department Investigation Division. “They are currently getting information together to present to us for investigation.”
Minutes from a March 24 board meeting indicate the discrepancies are linked to former museum director Michael Anderson. In a director’s report, it is stated that files are unorganized and interim director Nicki Wood is still assisting the Ardmore Police Department with the ongoing investigation. The minutes also say the investigation into finances range from 2007 to the present.
The minutes, which will be before the board for approval during the April meeting, also refer to the investigation under new business, and state the board is to say the termination of the director was “a personnel issue” and nothing else.
Board chairman Daniel Gibbs emphasized the minutes are preliminary in nature and are a draft. Gibbs said Anderson has provided him with a resignation letter. He was not certain if the board accepted the letter during a meeting. Gibbs was unable to look at his records as he was attending a conference in San Antonio. Anderson resigned at the beginning of March.
“It shouldn’t say termination,” Gibbs said. “There was a discussion of an employment matter during an executive session during a special meeting in March.”
Because it was an employee matter, Gibbs said he could not comment further on the matter.
