  • Nominate an outstanding nurse who has demonstrated excellence and leadership in the field of nursing for the Oklahoma Chapter March of Dimes 2014 Nurse of the Year Awards. The March of Dimes is now accepting nominations in 18 diverse categories of nursing. The awards will be presented at a gala event on Thursday, September, 25th at the Petroleum Club in Oklahoma City.

Patients, families, colleagues and supervisors are encouraged to nominate the nurse who has made a difference in their lives. To submit a nomination, visit http://bit.ly/nurseoftheyearokc by June 21st. In order to be considered for the award, nominees must fill out an application. Applications are blinded and scored based on credentials, certifications and nursing education, their proudest outcomes, leadership, professional associations and achievements. Blinded applications are scored and reviewed by the volunteer Nurse of the Year Selection Committee.

“I’m deeply honored to serve as this year’s Chair and commend March of Dimes for their work in recognizing the contribution that nurses make to the health care profession, and as a result, improve the health of the citizens of the state of Oklahoma,” said Jamie Kilpatrick, Director, Neonatal Intensive Care at The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center. “I can’t think of a better way to honor nurses for the tireless work they do than this moving awards celebration,” she added.

Through the Nurse of the Year Awards, the March of Dimes brings together the health care community to pay tribute to the profession of nursing and the often unsung heroes and heroines who save the lives and health of others.
