He and the former Wanda Jean Sneed were married July 26, 1958, at Tishomingo. They moved to Ardmore in 1961, joining the Ardmore City Schools as classroom teachers. They were the parents of a daughter, Leisa. Wanda passed away Oct. 26, 1992.

Jerry passed away at his rural Ardmore residence April 22, 2014, following an apparent heart attack.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Ward of the home; his daughter, Leisa McDonald and husband Robert of Cedar Park, Texas; a stepdaughter, Sharon Oakes and husband Mike, and a stepson, Larry Don Hull and wife, Sandie, all of the Dickson community; and four step-grandchildren, Laramie and Lane Hull, Macie Hartman and Bailey Oakes.
