A pair of Ardmore residents were arrested Thursday after motel employees reported finding them either “passed out or dead” in a room.

Officer Billy Mitchell, Ardmore Police Department Patrol Division, responded to the 12:45 p.m. report in the 1200 block of South Commerce Street.

Reports indicate an employee led Mitchell to the room and unlocked the door. The officer discovered Kendrick Jackson, 31, and Kandace Wilson, 28, both unconscious inside the room. Mitchell also found methamphetamine and a handgun. The pair were roused and arrested. They were both booked into the Carter County Detention Center.

Jackson has a criminal history that includes prior conviction for drug distribution and possession of illegal guns in the commission of a felony. Wilson also has a criminal history, and was currently free on a bond connected to February charges of second-degree burglary and bringing contraband (weapons) into the county jail.

Both Jackson and Wilson were formally charged Friday by the district attorney’s office with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine) and possession of a firearm after conviction or during probation. Bonds of $35,000 were set on the charges against each defendant. Preliminary conference is set for June 10. Late Friday, records showed Jackson and Wilson remained in the CCDC pending the posting of bond.
