The Plainview boys golf team won Monday’s Class 3A Regional at Lake Murray Golf Course with a 624.

Oklahoma Christian finished second with a 638, Pauls Valley was third with a 657, Tishomingo took fourth with a 663, Marlow was fifth with a 694 and Lone Grove finished sixth with a 713.

The top six teams will compete at the state tournament next Monday and Tuesday at Lakeview Golf Course in Ardmore.

Dickson finished 19 shots short of reaching state with a 732 for an eighth-place finish. 

Cody Parkhill and Tyler Hartsell qualified as individuals for the Comets. Parkhill shot a 168 and Hartsell had a 165. 

The Indians’ regional champions were led by Blake Riesen with a 152, Carson Seals shot a 154, Conner Kesler had a 158, Cooper Little shot a 160 and Nate Hoben had a 164.

Tishomingo was led by Preston Lovett’s 152, Spencer Upton shot a 165, Kody Keeton had a 166, Alec Cripps shot a 180 and Chance Murray carded a 187. Lovett tied Plainview’s Riesen for the individual regional title and Plainview’s Seals finished fourth.

Lone Grove was led by Bryce Newton and Aaron Rizzo, who both shot 166. Kyle White had a 190, Jacob Biber shot a 191 and Devon Gunter had a 219. 

The Comets’ two state qualifiers led the team, followed by Collin Potter with a 185, Brint Mitchell shot a 214 and Cody Flowers had a 223.


Tigers fall short of state tournament

Ardmore’s boys golf team played for a chance at the Class 5A state tournament, but struggled to a 13th place finish. 

The Tigers shot a 740. The first round score of 355 dropped to 385 in the second round.

Tahlequah won the tournament with a 628, Bishop Kelly (631) was second, Tulsa Edison (657) took third, Skiatook (665) was fourth, Noble (674) finished fifth and McAlester (676) was sixth.  

Michael Nichols led Ardmore with a 166, Carter Swanson shot a 183, Jacob Terry had a 193, Dayne Coffman shot 198 and Luke Stevenson carded a 270.

The Class 5A state tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday at Ft. Sill Golf Club in Lawton.
