Chickasaw National Recreation Area Superintendent Bruce Nobel has announced that starting May 23, Guy Sandy Campground and Eagle Bay will reopen and there will be extended hours at the Travertine Nature Center.
• Guy Sandy Campground is located on west side of Lake of the Arbuckles, and is accessible from Chickasaw Trail Road. It is convenient to visitors who want to use the Guy Sandy boat ramp and fishing dock. The campground has 40 sites, pit toilets and water faucets on a first come, first served basis. Payment is by cash in the drop box located at the front of the campground.
• Eagle Bay is located on the west side of Lake of the Arbuckles at the corner of Primrose Lane and Shepherd Hills Road. Visitors should be aware that, due to low water levels in the lake, the boat ramp and dock are dry and are unusable for launching boats. However, a pond located at Eagle Bay is available for fishing.
• Travertine Nature Center will be open 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. seven days a week through Labor Day. The nature center is located near Little Niagara. In addition to the center’s attractions, rangers lead walks along Travertine Creek at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, and ranger present talks at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
